About This Doll/Figure
- Formerly (before becoming one of my characters), this doll/figure was: a Barbie® Fashionistas™ 44 Leather & Ruffles Doll & Fashions – Tall doll. *
- “Doll Changes” Status: I haven’t made any changes to her, other than adding a tiny rubber band to the back of her hair to keep it in place. I’m very torn over whether to rebody her…
– I love the variety of body styles Mattel has been coming out with and I embrace the individuality of my characters.
-Having been the tallest kid I knew growing up, I also identify with the words of J. Enovy at TallDistrict.com: “Growing up tall can be socially awkward and hard for a young girl. It is literally hard to fit in when your head sticks out above the crowd. Couple that with images of femininity that are associated with skinny, soft-spoken, gentle, and short/average height women. Images and terms that are not typically associated with a tall female. A tall female who isn’t ‘model skinny’ is often associated with being more masculine, aggressive and is expected to be athletic because well whats the use of being tall if you can’t entertain the world with your athletic prowess, right? Wrong. Nonetheless, it is an assumption that impacts the way talls are approached. Tall women and men are often met with glaring looks and hear comments like ‘wow you’re tall’ as if we are unaware and are asked the infamous question ‘do you play basketball.’”
-But I just so wish that Mattel would make articulated bodies for the tall, petite, and curvy dolls! Please, Mattel?
